Caswell Bay, Gower, Swansea
With the help of Tim and Byron (qualified lifeguards from www.GapActivities.co.uk), Ian set off from Caswell beach at 12.50pm on Monday 12th May to have a go at extreme ironing, canoe style!
Boarding a 15' canoe, and dressed in a black dinner suit, Ian ventured out in to water for an afternoon full of adventure, in his continued attempt to raise £2,500 for The Gap over the next 11 months.
Having managed to get the ironing board set up in the canoe without capsizing it, Ian was also able to land at Brandy Cove for some other challenges, including rock climbing and caving!
Ian managed to stay dry for about an hour, however disaster struck when Ian and Tim capsized the canoe at sea, adding to the fun and adventure of the afternoon.
The 'extreme team' completed the challenge after draining the water from the canoe and paddled back to Caswell Bay for a much needed cuppa.

Pen y Fan, Brecon, South Wales
Starting from a small car park near Healfanog south west of Brecon, and carrying a ironing board weighing 9kg, Ian along with some friends commenced the trek to the summit of Pen y Fan which followed a gradual climb along the Cefn Cwm Llewch ridge. There were some stunning views of Cribyn to our south which were obscured at times by quite dense cloud cover. Whilst the rain held off for the challenge (10am-2pm), there were some really high gusting winds (approx. 60mph) along the ridge, so the temperature did feel quite cold and bitter.
Finally reaching the summit of Pen y Fan around midday where the winds were not as high as they had been, Ian was able to set up for the first of many 'extreme ironing' challenges to come.
There was a great atmosphere as around fifty people gathered to observe the challenge which was undertaken by Ian in a Black Dinner Suit, as he demonstrated the correct ironing of a white dress-shirt.
The descent took Ian along a lower path to the south east of Corn Du, down Beacons Way and back to the Storey Arms car park for a well deserved bacon roll and cup of tea.
A big thank you has to go to friends from Cornerstone Church, especially Tim, Byron, Simon, Phil and Chris who also endured the trek and provided some much needed moral support and friendship over the weekend.
