Extreme Ironing Fund-Raising Challenge 2008/09
We are committed to supporting local charities by taking part in various fund-raising activities.
From April 2008 until March 2009 we have chosen to fund-raise on behalf of The Gap, an award-winning charity pioneered and delivered by Cornerstone Church (Registered Charity No: 1040639), who are working with disadvantaged young people in Swansea, helping them to gain skills to progress to training or local employment. More information about The Gap can be found on their website: www.gapactivities.co.uk
We hope you can help us raise as much money as possible to support this worthy cause.
Thank you.

How will we raise money?
Over the next year, Ian Ambrose, Proprietor of Prestige Ironing, is planning to take his five-foot long ironing board, which weighs 9kg, an iron and of course a few shirts on a number of locations across the UK, including Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England, and on a Gorge Walking expedition. To launch his year long ‘Extreme Ironing’ fund-raising challenge, Ian will hike to the summit of Pen y Fan in Brecon on Saturday 19th April 2008.
Extreme Ironing combines the excitement of a dangerous sport with the everyday household chore. ‘Extremists’ have been known to pitch their boards on mountainsides or take them skiing, snowboarding and even canoeing.

FULL PRESS RELEASE - IAN TAKES IRONING TO THE EXTREME - 15th APRIL 2008
Ian Ambrose will be the neatest climber in Wales when he hikes to the top of a Brecon mountain on Saturday. As well as his rucksack Ian will be taking his ironing board, iron and even a few creased shirts to the summit of Pen y Fan to launch his year long ‘Extreme Ironing’ challenge.
Ian, who runs Prestige Ironing in Swansea, decided to dust down his climbing boots to raise money for the local charity The Gap, which helps young people through alternative curriculum activities.
Ian, 32, said, “I wanted to give something back to my local community and The Gap, which is based at Cornerstone Church, Penlan, helps a lot of local teenagers. I have spent some time with The Gap teaching young people to prepare for interviews including the importance of ironing their clothes so they look their best. I am hoping to raise around £2,500 over the next 12 months through sponsorship by local companies and other donations.”
The Gap provides social skills and qualifications including The
Duke of Edinburgh Award to teenagers from schools all over the city.
It raises money by organising events and activity days for companies
and individuals, and from grant giving trusts. Since its launch
in 1998 this award winning charity has helped 2,000 young people.
